Larry leaned back in his chair, letting out a contented sigh as he closed the thick volume detailing the history of the Void War. His ship, the Star Chaser, hummed quietly around him as he relaxed in the silence, grateful for the chance to catch up on his reading.
The Void War had been a devastating conflict, one that had torn apart entire civilizations and left countless lives lost in its wake. But as he read about the mistakes of the junior researcher Yundal Hepet, he couldn't help but wonder if it could have been avoided.
Hepet had been a brilliant scientist, a rising star in the research community who had been tasked with developing new technologies to help the war effort. But in his eagerness to impress his superiors and gain recognition, he had made a fatal error in his calculations, leading to a catastrophic failure that had cost countless lives.
1) Dawn of disaster- junior korvax researcher Yundal Hepet discovers combining void items with terraforming reactors greatly improves output. He implements it on a small scale and uses his data to ask the convergence for permission to lead a research mission to try it on a planetary scale
2) void terraformer - having gotten permission, Yundal Hepet goes to the planet teynseha to implement his project. Preliminary tests on all the smaller extraction reactors go as planned but when the entire system is brought online, the presence of so many void items in such close proximity allows them to create a hive mind, seize control of the reactor and start terraforming the planet to THEIR liking
3) infested cube - HQ for some nameless Gek corporation receives a call from “toilgek rolf”, assigned to a research outpost. He’s babbling about telling them not to build the cube on an infested planet but they did and now it’s infested. Cut to footage of a cube with void items growing out all over it
4) EnrAtoll - a scout commanders report back about building progress on a new forward scouting base. The video ends with the commander exploring some deep underwater caves and finding a beating “heart” of compound bulbs. Video ends with him fleeing while calling for help
5) wreck of the SS agawan - colonists have their freighter wrecked short of their destination so they start building a colony on the planet they crashed on. Shortly a scouting party disappears, follow up parties find a submerged abandoned building. Inside are beds with compound bulbs covering the head of the bed and the missing scouts are unconscious in the beds. When they try to remove one, he seizes and dies. They leave the rest in the beds and return to the colony. The next morning the missing scouting party returns but they don’t speak to anyone and seem set on making strange structures out of any supplies they can get their hands on. The leader of the colony decides to “make peace” with them and build a “unity plaza” to house their “sculptures”. The video concludes with the second group of colonists arriving to find the entire place deserted, no sign of anyone or anything.
6) void colony ship - Rolf, now researchgek, is reporting back to his new master Yundal Hepet. Rolf and a vykeen partner followed void signals to an abandoned moon, only to find a massive void ship hovering over an abandoned building. When they approach, horrors burst out and the vykeen dies giving Rolf time to escape. As he takes off, Rolf notices the landing pad on the ship is unoccupied and, in an unheard of moment of Gek bravery, turns back to land on the pad instead. Upon exiting his ship, he’s knocked unconscious by a psychic attack and when he comes to, he’s inside the void colony ship with a living ship flying lazy circles around the outside, waiting for him to leave. The vid ends with him recording a message to Yundal Hepet, saying his hope is to launch it when he leaves in the hope the living ship won’t notice it as its fighting Rolf
Larry shook his head, feeling a twinge of sympathy for the young researcher. He knew all too well the pressure that came with trying to prove oneself, to make a name for oneself in a field where competition was fierce and the stakes were high.
But as he thought back to his own adventures, he realized that it was the mistakes and failures that had taught him the most. From his misadventures on the ice planet of Hothron to his near-death encounter with the massive space kraken of Zorgon, every mistake had been a lesson, every failure an opportunity to grow and learn.
With a smile, Larry got up from his chair and made his way to the ship's observation deck, eager to take in the wonders of the universe around him. As he gazed out at the stars, he felt a sense of peace and wonder wash over him, knowing that there was always more to discover, always more to learn.
The Star Chaser may have been just a ship, but it was his home, and the universe was his playground. And with each new adventure, he knew he would continue to grow and learn, one misstep at a time.

Long time gamer, got started playing tabletop miniature games, board games, and nintendo. On my channel, I post No Man's Sky base builds, build journals and live streams from my ps5. Most common questions I get about the channel are related to the name and the thumbnail....Enra Silver is a name I made up for the first character I ever created in the first RPG I ever played (Shadowrun) and I liked it so much I've continued to use it. Secondly, the thumbnail is from my Bu'uyan Magisters Nursery Of Souls build!
