What drew you to play No Man's Sky initially?
I like exploration and survival style games. The no man's sky attracted attention. The game was very surprising. This is a masterpiece among games.
Now that you're an experienced NMS player, what do you think of the game?
No Man's Sky is as exciting as on the first day of the game
How did you become interested in base building?
I like to build. Create something of your own, special. I was pleasantly surprised that there was construction in no man's sky. The first construction was simple. A small pioneer settlement. For the first time I took part in our community in the New Year's challenge. I built my first Christmas build. What I wanted to do was not allowed by the game mechanics. This is how I met the Glitch Building.
What is it about building bases that you enjoy most?
Creating a building that I can’t do in real life
How would you describe your design aesthetic?
I like everything natural. Wood, stone, glass. It's a pleasure to work with. Therefore, I try to include natural elements in the assemblies. I liked to use art panels, dioramas, installations in construction.
Where do you find your design inspirations?
I find inspiration everywhere—in a fruit bowl, even… which is probably why in some quarters I’m known for giant fruits and vegetables. I started with a
Most often, inspiration comes when visiting worlds. Random generation sometimes creates incredible natural forms. If the challenge is determined by the conditions, then I look for inspiration in life.
Do you usually have a clear picture of what you're going to build before you start?
Approximate. A certain image that takes shape during construction
How do you choose locations for your builds?
Depends on the project. But I always choose planets without storms. They are convenient and comfortable. And the sky should be blue, blue can be greenish or purple. I don't like yellow and red seas. On a beautiful planet, the soul itself asks to create beauty.
Tell us a little about your thought process when you begin a build.
My thought process primarily involves imagination, aimed at the beauty and correctness of the forms of the structure. At first a foggy image appears in my thoughts. As construction progresses, I make adjustments.
What techniques and tools do you use?
Standard assembly, glitch building, and to reduce parts up to 5000 times I use a building mod for PC
How do these techniques and tools fit into your process?
Great. Glitch building allows you to place a part where the game mechanics do not allow you to place it. If I need to reduce or enlarge a part, I use the construction mod more than 3000 times. The mod does not interfere with the use of glitch building.
What are the pros and cons you encounter by using these techniques and tools?
"There are many advantages. This can be seen from the results of my builds. Minus one. There is not enough constructor inside the construction menu, in which you can make a micro-assembly. And just install this microassembly from the designer in the right place. Many times during assembly, the micro-assembly had to be redone. The assembly did not fit in the right place.
And one more minus. The volume of the part. When deleting a part, all parts nearby are deleted. It does not allow free placement of parts. It’s good to have a glitch building for this."
What do you find most challenging about building in NMS?
"First, find a place. A galaxy, a system, a planet. It takes a lot of time to find a suitable planet.
Secondly, to realize your plans. Not everything can be done as desired. For many assemblies, it is necessary to select parts. It's a complicated process. The builders know."
How do you deal with a design that just isn't working?
I'm looking for an alternative. How and what can be replaced. It doesn't work, he'll try another way.
Even though I usually work things out, there remain a handful of builds that have been vexing enough that they’ve never seen the light of day. I have at least 3–4 bases I’ve been tinkering with for more than 2 years. There’s one that I tabled over a year ago because I just wasn’t skillful enough to pull it off at the time, though I’ve recently returned to work on it.
Has there been any specific design type or style you've not found a way to create?
I don't know. There are few builds yet. Those that I wanted, I managed to implement. You can always find an alternative
How would you recommend someone new to NMS begin learning to build?
Don't be afraid to ask questions. Knowledgeable and experienced players will always help and tell you. In my case, my friend advised me to watch the videos of our glitch building masters. I learned to build from their videos.
What additional advice would you give to new Builders?
Build. Try. Build. Masterpieces are created not only by a glitch, blender, etc. You can create masterpieces using basic mechanics. It all depends on the player's imagination.
Any closing thoughts?
I wish the Hello Games team prosperity. Please us with new updates. When updating, try not to break the construction, especially the Gleach building. Add water building elements like a table waterfall, pond and the like. I wish all builders creative success. Good luck to all
