What drew you to play No Man's Sky initially?
I had actually heard that it was produced in collaboration with NASA. Since I'm very interested in astronomy and cosmology, it seemed like a very interesting game, also the size of the game and the variety of planets. And it was something different,
Now that you're an experienced NMS player, what do you think of the game?
I'm enthusiastic about building, the variety and the expeditions are always great. And everything that has been done to date is simply great, and I'm already looking forward to everything that comes in 2024.
How did you become interested in base building?
Like everyone else, it started because you had to get through one or two quests, everything else just happened.
What is it about building bases that you enjoy most?
The possibilities of what you can and could recreate or simply build your dream house. You become a little architect in the game. The design of the interior is also just awesome.
How would you describe your design aesthetic?
Expandable, but still great.
Where do you find your design inspirations?
Special buildings like the Luvre in France, or films like Stargate, Marvel, DC series and comic magazines like Lucky Luke Daisy Town.
Do you usually have a clear picture of what you're going to build before you start?
No not always. Sometimes it just happens that way or I search the internet for the right one.
How do you choose locations for your builds?
It depends on what I want to build.
Tell us a little about your thought process when you begin a build.
I look at the surroundings, space is important, does it fit there at all? and then I put the first floor and walls and keep trying until I find the right point. How long should the building be, how wide and how high? Once I have everything and it fits the way it should, I just build the rest around it or expand it from there. Sometimes I just start building on top of it.
What techniques and tools do you use?
I use what is available to me as a console player and unfortunately that is very little. I can only rotate components and make them smaller or larger.
How do these techniques and tools fit into your process?
Unfortunately I can't say anything because I haven't really gotten to grips with it yet.
What are the pros and cons you encounter by using these techniques and tools?
I don't use any tools because this isn't possible on PS5. Techniques are always a bit difficult on consoles
What do you find most challenging about building in NMS?
That it works out the way you want it to.
How do you deal with a design that just isn't working?
I try to change it and see that there is at least a small similarity.
Has there been any specific design type or style you've not found a way to create?
Yes, the Stark Tower from Iron Man.
How would you recommend someone new to NMS begin learning to build?
Make it easy. Try it out. I'm always learning something new.
What additional advice would you give to new Builders?
Nnever give up. Start with simple things and then work your way up.
Any closing thoughts?
I would like to thank you for being able to be there and will continue to take part in the future for beautiful buildings.
